Princess Diana
Princess Diana (1961–97) was married to Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, for 15 years. She is mother to Prince William (born 1982), who is second-in-line to the throne, and Prince Harry (born 1984). Known as the Princess of Wales, Diana transformed into a glamorous icon, evoking the romantic image of the fairytale princess. She also became known for her charity work and was the first British royal figure to have contact with Aids patients. Diana died on 31 August 1997, in a car accident in Paris, at the age of 36.
